Ana Temu Otting for BVSD School Board
Education is the mission. Equity is the lens.
I’ve been in this work for a long time
From giving Know Your Rights training to tens of thousands of Coloradans to volunteering at toy drives and food banks since I was a teenager, my commitment to the community has always been hands-on, heart-led, and rooted in showing up.
I’m the daughter of immigrants, so I know how powerful a good education can be. For over fifteen years, I’ve been working alongside others to make real change in Colorado—making it easier for students to pay in-state tuition, helping folks get access to a driver’s license, and pushing to keep families safe from unfair targeting.
I’m also a mom, a small business owner, and someone who believes public schools are among the last great promises of the American Dream. I’m running for Boulder Valley School Board because I want to make sure that promise stays strong for every child.
My Priorities
Strong Schools
Every child deserves a school where they can learn, grow, and feel supported. That means reducing class sizes, making sure teachers and staff have what they need, and protecting resources that directly impact students. When we invest in our classrooms, we invest in our entire community.
Real Equity
Equity means every school and every student gets what they need to succeed, not just the same thing. We must direct funding and support to where it’s needed most, including schools with higher needs or fewer resources. Fairness should guide every decision we make, from the budget to the classroom.
Honest Partnership with Families
Families are part of the solution, not an afterthought. We need open, honest communication between the district and the people it serves. When parents feel heard and included, schools become stronger for everyone.
Future-Ready Learning
Students deserve more than test prep; they need tools to thrive in a changing world. Let’s invest in critical thinking, creativity, and hands-on pathways to college and careers. Our schools should spark curiosity, build confidence, and prepare students for whatever comes next.
Safe & Supportive Schools
Every student deserves to feel safe, valued, and seen at school. That means investing in mental health, creating inclusive environments, and using restorative problem-solving approaches. A school that supports the whole child is a school where real learning can happen.
Responsible, Transparent Budgeting
Let’s protect what matters most: students, educators, and learning. As the district faces tough choices, we need clear communication and community involvement every step of the way. Smart, transparent decisions today will help our schools stay strong tomorrow.
Hi, I’m Ana Temu Otting.
I’m a mom, small business owner, community organizer, and proud daughter of immigrants. I’ve also spent the last 15+ years fighting for equity, access, and opportunity across Colorado.
I was raised in Longmont, just up the road from Broomfield, and I’ve spent my life working to protect the promise of the American Dream, because I know what that promise can mean for families like mine. As a first-generation college graduate, I’ve seen how life-changing education can be. That’s what drives me.
Over the years, I’ve helped lead statewide efforts for immigrant rights and education equity. I’ve worked on passing policies like in-state tuition access for undocumented students, driver’s licenses for all, and protections for communities vulnerable to federal overreach. I’ve led Know Your Rights trainings for tens of thousands of Coloradans, co-authored reports on detention conditions and government data sharing, and helped shift systems that were never built with us in mind.
I’ve also worked across state government, philanthropy, and nonprofit spaces, building coalitions, shaping education access strategies, and serving on scholarship and higher education boards. Today, I chair scholarship initiatives that have put millions of dollars into the hands of Colorado students, and I continue to bridge the gap between K–12 and higher education with a focus on students who’ve been left out of traditional systems.
In 2023, I started my small business, Corazón Printing, with a mission to lift up community voices and support changemakers, from grassroots organizers to local creatives. That business is built on the same values I bring to this campaign: relationships, integrity, and corazón.
I live in Broomfield with my husband, Seth and our son David. Becoming a parent has deepened everything I believe about public education, that every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and set up for success. And every family deserves a seat at the table.
I’m running for the Boulder Valley School Board because I know the decisions we make now, about funding, equity, class sizes, and curriculum, shape the future of every student in our district. I want to be a voice that brings people together, keeps families informed, and puts students at the center of every conversation.
This campaign is about more than policy, it’s about legacy. Let’s build the future our kids deserve, together.
